Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Environmental, Occupational Safety, and Health (EOSH) Leader to join our Quality, Safety, and Environment (QSE) Department at CPS Pakistan. As a vital member of our team, you will report directly to the QSE Manager and spearhead daily EOSH activities to prevent incidents that could impact our business operations. Your primary responsibilities will include managing and enhancing our EOSH legal compliance system, ensuring adherence to local regulations, and leading the maintenance and implementation of ISO 45001 & 14001 management systems in alignment with CPSs global EOSH strategies.
Position Overview:
- ESLP Specialist will lead the day-to-day EOSH activities to prevent EOSH incident, which can be impacted on CPS Pakistan business.
- Manage and improve EOSH legal compliance system to ensure all required compliance of local regulation.
- Key leader to sustain ISO 45001 & 14001 management system and implement CPS global EOSH strategies. Manage and improve EOSH legal compliance system to ensure all required compliance of local regulation.
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities:
Occupational Health and Safety Programs
- Key leader in maintaining & upkeeping of the safety management system (ISO 45001) & conduct periodic internal audit ensure compliance.
- Conduct monthly safety committee meeting to track safety performance & follow up on corrective or preventive actions. Report findings & actions required from safety inspections as necessary.
- Investigate, resolve, and monitor accidents, near misses and property damage with different stakeholders to ensure actions required are followed up for prevention and improvement.
- Lead safety risk assessment program and liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure risk assessments are conducted and reviewed, and required actions are identified & implemented to mitigate risks.
- Liaise with local authority, MOM in factory inspection, accident investigation, new safety requirement and other safety compliance related matters.
- Implement and monitor safety initiatives including Safety First and Culture of Care, Life Saving Rules, Serious Injury & Fatality potential (SIFp), Behavior Based Safety (BBS), Near Miss Reporting Program, Ergonomic Program, IH & Noise Monitoring Program & other safety programs.
- Liaise with different stakeholders to ensure compliance to contractor management requirement including permit to work system, safety induction course & regular inspections.
Environmental & Sustainability Programs
- Key leader in maintaining & upkeeping of the environmental management system (ISO 14001), including the life cycle assessment, environmental aspect & impact assessment & other environmental monitoring program as needed.
- Liaise with local authority in licensing and reporting, new requirement, audits, and other compliance related matters (water management plan, waste reporting).
- Track and monitor of water, energy use, and waste generation, and work with stakeholders to initiate improvement projects to meet company sustainability goal (source vulnerability assessment, carbon net zero vision, solar project etc.)
- Manage wastewater treatment system operation to ensure quality of discharge effluence comply with local authority requirements, and process water treatment system operations.
- Manage process water treatment system operation to ensure quality of water comply with company requirement before it is release for production use.
- Liaise with third party to dispose solid and chemical waste according to company and local authority requirements.
- Coordinate and work closely with third party Pest Controller to prevent pest infestation.
- Review the MSDS of new ingredients brought on site to ensure it meet local environmental and safety regulations.
Fire Safety & Emergency Control
- Liaise with Emergency Response Team in factory inspection, fire system compliance, training, audit, and other emergency controls.
- Coordinates with all department heads to conduct tabletop exercises, fire drills & other emergency drills following the company emergency response plan.
- Lead and guide Company Emergency Response Team (including first aiders) in training, refresher, and response exercises.
- Periodic review of company emergency response plan to ensure compliance and for improvement if any.
- Liaise with third party to maintain and upkeep the fire protection systems.
Legal Licenses
- Manage Plant legal licenses and permits related with EHS to ensure they are up to date.
- Liaise with local authorities in relevant inspections, investigations, new requirement, license renewal and other related matters.
- Work with different stakeholders to establish and maintain safe procedure for hazardous substance & flammable material storage & the upkeep of inventory & safety data sheet where applicable.
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance to the applicable legal licenses and permits. Work with stakeholders to address non-conformance where needed.
Training & Awareness
- Plan and conduct EHS trainings (EHS awareness, fire safety response etc.) to plant associates, contractors, and visitors to ensure understanding of the site requirement for their safety & well-being.
- Liaise with stakeholders and/or external training provider on other mandatory trainings to ensure compliance to local regulations & company requirement.
- Initiate sharing & communication of key EHS learnings and reminders to all associates.
- Organize and conduct campaigns to raise environment, health & safety awareness among associates.
Education Requirements:
- Degree in EHS, Chemical Engineering or equivalent field, Masters is preferred.
- NEBOSH Certificate is preferred.
Related Work Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Candidates with either Environmental/Sustainability OR Safety experience will be considered (those with experience in both areas will be preferred)
- Strong EOSH background
Functional Skills:
- Knowledge of ISO Management Systems (ISO-14001, ISO 45001)
- ISO 9001, FSSC 22000 knowledge would be considered an advantage.
- Project Management & Change Management
- Facilitation skills - ability to deliver training.
- Language: Proficiency in English
- Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact with all levels.
- Microsoft software tools proficiency (Excel, MS Word, MS Project, and Power Point)
- Dynamic, self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented
