We are an internet product company building exciting games/game formats for multi-million users, who are highly engaged with the games that we publish. The games are delivered on Android, iOS & Web(React.Js/phaser) platforms powered by a game engine and a seamless platform. We take pride in the smooth UI, ability to handle high concurrency with near-single-digit millisecond latencies. Ours is a hybrid platform with computes running on both on-prem and in the cloud. We have plethora of serverless functions and microservices built either on NodeJs or Java. We user web sockets & messaging services to power game interactions at a real-time basis. During peak hours we experience many multiples of load seen from off-peak hours and our application & infrastructure is tuned to handle the loads optimally. Our systems generate many gigabytes of data everyday which is fed to our analytics engine for generating actionable insights. Our current game offerings are rummy, poker, carrom, pool & fantasy sports and we want to add games that would be highly engaging to gamers. Our goal is to offer the best experience possible, constantly raising the bar higher for performance, scalability, reusability, security as we move.
Responsibilites
    • Technical Vision: Develop and communicate a comprehensive plan for the architectural design, technologies, and principles governing the core game engine and supporting systems, ensuring alignment with company goals and industry best practices.
    • Platform Strategy: Contribute to developing, communicating, and executing a long-term platform engineering strategy aligned with company goals.
    • Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of skilled backend developers and managers to foster a collaborative and high-performance culture. Take accountability for the teams success.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align development efforts with overall company goals.
    • Project Oversight: Oversee planning, execution, and timely delivery of initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.
    • Innovation and Experimentation: Encourage innovation and experimentation to foster a culture valuing creative solutions to complex problems.
    • Solution Delivery: Collaborate with product managers, Operations team, and other engineering teams to deliver seamless, integrated solutions.
    • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders and leadership, providing regular updates on project status, challenges, and milestones.
    • Skill Building and Enablement: Enhance skill acquisition and enablement across the organization through immersive, collaborative, outcome-driven engagements.
    • Performance Improvement: Lead efforts to improve app performance, aiming for each api/process/task to be below 50 milliseconds. Empower teams to automatically scale applications based on demand projections. Perform performance testing.
    • Methodology Implementation: Define and implement best practices for supporting multi-version apps and adopt agile and scrum methodologies.
    • Tech Stack Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate tech stacks based on feature nature, business goals, and team capabilities.
    • Business Alignment: Understand business goals and mentor the team accordingly to ensure alignment.
    • Performance Reviews: Conduct performance reviews of senior team members.
    • Automation: Empower teams to automate unit test cases and deployments (CI/CD) in test/UAT and production environments.
    • Initiative: Identify and implement new, highly scalable foundational components and libraries to improve and maintain the existing core platform.
    • Accountability: Ensure accurate completion and quality of all documentation and work produced by the engineering team. Deliver a quality product meeting customers’ need.
    • Improving Productivity: Innovate new tools to improve team productivity.
    • Security: Ensure zero slippage on security aspects.
    • Availability: Ensure system availability is 99.99%.
    • Ownership: Own end-to-end responsibilities of building features and/or launching new services or tools.

Qualification
    • 18+ years of overall software development experience with the last 8 years in a product/B2C environment and/or comparable experience such as online gaming.
    • Proven experience in building highly scalable backend systems, with at least 6 years in leadership roles.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
    • Strategic mindset aligning technical strategies with business objectives.
    • A minimum of 8 years of experience with Java Object-Oriented Programming Language in a professional environment required.
    • Experience with Golang, NodeJs languages are Plus.
    • Experience in building enterprise-grade APIs using state-of-the-art techniques and best practices (GraphQL, REST, JSON, XML, etc.) required.
    • Experience in developing applications utilizing websockets/netty framework and creating highly scalable systems.
    • Experience with relational databases, including designing complex schemas and queries required.
    • Experience developing within distributed systems or a microservice-based architecture required.
    • Experience with Cloud Native system design required and Familiarity with Container Runtime and Container Orchestration tools such as Docker, cri-o, Kubernetes required.
    • Hands-on experience working with CI/CD tool chains Jenkins, Github/GitLab Actions, Circle CI or similar.
    • Familiarity with Data Centric application design, Event Driven Systems, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Hazelcast, Big Data ecosystem, Data pipelines, Stream processing systems etc. is required.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and multi-task efficiently.
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
    • Experience working with Public Clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure).
    • Experience using Infrastructure automation tools added value.
    • Experience using database systems like mongo, Cassandra, Redis, Dynamo etc. in high-performance and resilient configurations is a plus.
    • Experience in the RMG industry is a plus.
    • Experience in defining standards for coding, design, designing complex applications, and working with design patterns.
    • Experience in building reusable components and using code optimization tools like Sonar.
    • Strong presentation and documentation skills.
    • Experience in security testing and VAPT.
    • Experience working with performance tools like JMeter/Blaze Meter etc.
    • Experience in DR activation without business impact.
    • Solid understanding and experience of networking protocols and their nuances to build low latency apps.
    • Substantial experience in team building, driving hiring programs to attract top talent, and developing hiring strategies in collaboration with Talent Acquisition.
