Solar Site Surveyor a professional responsible for conducting on-site assessments of potential solar panel installation locations, gathering data on factors like sunlight exposure, roof structure, shading, and electrical grid access to determine the feasibility and optimal design of a solar photovoltaic (PV) system for a property. Key responsibilities of a solar site surveyor may include: Site visits: Conducting physical inspections of potential solar installation sites, including residential homes, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities. Data collection: Using specialized tools like sun-mapping software, infrared cameras, and digital measuring devices to collect data on solar radiation, roof pitch, shading, obstructions, and electrical grid connection points. Site analysis: Interpreting collected data to assess the suitability of a site for solar installation, considering factors like energy consumption patterns, roof structure, and potential system capacity. System design input: Providing technical information to solar engineers to assist in designing optimal solar PV systems based on site conditions. Report generation: Creating detailed reports outlining site findings, including potential system size, energy production estimates, cost projections, and recommendations for system design. Customer interaction: Communicating with property owners, contractors, and other stakeholders to explain the solar site survey process, address concerns, and answer questions about potential solar installations. Compliance checks: Ensuring adherence to local building codes, permitting requirements, and safety standards regarding solar installations. Required skills and qualifications: Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of solar PV technology, system components, and electrical principles.
