Electrician

The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment. This role requires a thorough knowledge of electrical systems and the ability to read blueprints, use diagnostic tools, and comply with safety standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Installation:
• Install electrical systems, including wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, and lighting fixtures.
• Connect wiring to various electrical components, including transformers, motors, and other equipment.
• Install control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
• Maintenance and Repair:
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
• Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Ensure all installations and repairs comply with electrical codes and standards.
• Follow and enforce safety procedures, including lockout/tagout procedures.
• Keep up-to-date with the latest safety standards and regulations.
• Troubleshooting:
• Use testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to diagnose electrical problems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Documentation and Communication:
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment.
• Maintain records of work performed, including materials used and hours worked.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized apprenticeship or vocational training program is preferred.
• Valid electrician’s license.
• Proven experience as an electrician.
• Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Strong physical condition and ability to perform manual labor for extended periods.

Skills:

• Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as testing equipment (e.g., ammeters, voltmeters).
• Ability to read technical diagrams and blueprints.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Work Environment:

• Work both indoors and outdoors in various settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
• Exposure to electrical hazards, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols.
• May require working in confined spaces, at heights, or in extreme weather conditions.
