Embedded Systems Engineer (Hardware) at Prodigy AirWorks

Summary:

Prodigy AirWorks is a startup focused on local development of autonomous UAS (drones) in Pakistan. We are looking for an Embedded Hardware Engineer as part of our Electronics Team with 1-2 years of hands-on experience. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of ARM architectures and power electronics, as well as design process & trade-offs, such as compute, bottlenecks, noise and thermal dissipation etc. Additionally, a basic understanding of embedded software is required. This role will be responsible for developing standalone hardware modules, managing hardware in larger embedded systems, as well as reviewing mechanical work for alignment with electrical team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & develop hardware for embedded power systems & microcontroller systems

• Design & develop full hardware modules, such as Sensors, Power Dissipation or Test Benches

• Represent Electronics team in Mechanical design meetings; Validate Mechanical design from an electronics/embedded perspective

• Validate hardware systems: EMI/EMC, Thermals, HALT/Fatigue/Stress testing etc.

• Ensure documentation, knowledge retention and cross-functional training of hardware systems in a fast-paced startup environment

• Support field testing, validation, and manufacturing diagnostics

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Comp. Science or Eng., Electrical or Electronics Eng. or a similarly relevant field

• Experience in designing & developing embedded circuits and PCBs for power systems and microcontroller systems

• A strong drive to build meaningful skills and make creative & innovative contributions to product design

• A good understanding of battery chemistry, electrical design safety, thermal dissipation, and electrical generation, loads and transformation

• Excellent communication skills. Ability to work in cross-functional teams and willingness to expand to broader skills

• Basic knowledge of Embedded Software Development

Preferred:

• Solid grasp of hardware testing & validation, such as HALT, stress testing and fatigue testing

• Experience working on heavily resource-constrained systems

• Good understanding of electrical noise protection, environmental protection, IP ratings

• Ability to write scripts and small software modules for automation of test setups

Prodigy AirWorks is a Karachi-based startup, aimed at developing humanitarian, civil and law enforcement Unmanned Aerial Systems. We design, develop and manufacture Aerial Systems locally, and aim to make Pakistan self-sufficient in high-end UAS design & production by the mid-2030s. We are a small start-up with flat hierarchies; We work in broad cross-functional teams, with every engineer spearheading their specific area of expertise.

Other Details:

• The on-site work is regular Mon-Fri 8-5. Additionally, alternate Saturdays are reserved for field testing, generally only done in the later stages of product/system development.
