Powder Coating Specialist

• Clean, sandblast, or otherwise prepare metal or other surfaces for powder coating.
• Ensure surfaces are free of dust, oil, rust, and other contaminants before coating.
• Operate powder coating spray guns and automated systems to apply even coats of powder.
• Select and mix appropriate powders based on job specifications.
• Monitor ovens and curing temperatures to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality.
• Adjust cure times and temperatures according to material and powder specifications.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of coating booths, spray guns, and ovens.
• Troubleshoot and repair minor equipment issues.
• Inspect finished parts for defects such as pinholes, runs, or uneven coating.
• Use tools like calipers, micrometers, or gloss meters to verify coating thickness and finish.
• Follow OSHA and company safety protocols when handling powders and operating equipment.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Document batch numbers, colors used, cure times, and any quality control findings.
• Communicate with supervisors about production issues or equipment needs.
• Track powder inventory and notify purchasing of low stock or needed supplies.
• Ensure powders are stored correctly to maintain quality and compliance.
